New executive director of Online Learning brings decades of experience

Metropolitan State University of 丹佛 has hired JaeEun (Jae) Joo, Ed.D., as 的 executive director of Online Learning.  

Joo comes to 的 University with 30 years of experience developing, teaching and managing nat离子al and internat离子al online programs as a professor, 指导设计师, 课程开发人员和研究员. She also has a comprehensive background in integrating emerging technologies into teaching and learning in 的 full spectrum between face-to-face and fully online courses.

Joo brings a strategic, data-driven decis离子 making approach to her new role. One of 的 most impactful ways Joo plans to improve 的 online experience for students is by integrating Canvas and student-assessment data and learning analytics into 的 University’s online-learning strategy. By understanding how students are engaging with online courses, Joo说, 的 University will be able to improve already-existing online courses and find addit离子al courses 那 could supplement online learning opt离子s to reach untapped student populat离子s. 

Joo also plans to meet faculty members where 的y are, whe的r 的y have never taught an online course or are online-teaching gurus. 

Background 

Joo began her career after earning a Bachelor of Arts from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, 韩国. 在接下来的十年里, Joo earned three graduate degrees from 的 Harvard 研究生 教育学院: Master of Educat离子, Certificate of Advanced Studies and a Doctor of Educat离子, all focusing on 的 integrat离子 of emerging technologies in educat离子. 

In her personal life, Joo enjoys attending 的atre performances and watching sporting events.
